The new IBA & BARBRI Negotiation Skills Course will help you develop powerful negotiation skills by focusing on 9 core technical modules.

Starting on the 4 March, or the 3 June 2024, the course runs for six weeks. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a digital badge and certification which can be used towards your CPD hours.

The course costs £449 with options to either self-fund or to ‘Bill my employer’ for those with approved learning and development budget available.

  • Time Commitment: 4-5 hours a week for 6 weeks

Course Description

The course consists of 9 individual modules:

  • Negotiation Theory - The phases and different types of negotiation (including contentious and noncontentious)
  • Negotiating Styles - The role of personal beliefs and emotions in negotiations
  • Planning & Preparation - How to set short/medium/long-term objectives, and methods of preparation
  • Opening Steps - Setting the agenda, choosing the best venue, deciding who goes first
  • Dealing with Issues - Considering associated skills including trading, questioning, clarifying, being assertive

We explore what we mean by stress, how it affects you in the workplace and potential ways of coping with, or even harnessing, its effects. We look at barriers you may encounter to effective time management, explain ways of dealing with procrastination, and suggest effective methods to improve your ability to prioritise. You will also have the opportunity to identify your default behaviour in teamwork situations and learn more about associated strengths and weaknesses of different team player roles.
